How To Measure Caravan Windows
Measuring Caravan Windows
Caravan windows come in all shapes and sizes and can vary greatly from caravan to caravan. Before buying new windows for your caravan, it is important to get the exact measurements to ensure they fit correctly when installed. This guide will provide you with the best methods to accurately measure your caravan windows.
Steps to Measure Caravan Windows
Start by measuring the width of the window by using a tape measure or ruler. Measure from one side of the window frame to the other. Make sure to take accurate measurements; any errors can easily cause the windows to not fit.
Measure the length of the window from the top to the bottom. This can be done by starting from the top of the window frame and going all the way down to the bottom. Make sure to include the frame in your measurements.
Measure the depth of the window from the inside to the outside. This measurement is important for ensuring that the window frame will fit correctly. Take the depth measurement starting from the inside of the window frame and going out.
Take measurements of the window size, including any handles, locks, or other hardware. This is to ensure that you get the correct window size with the necessary hardware.
Finally, make sure to make a note of any measurements that are not standard. This can include the shape of the window or any other special requests you may have. Be sure to include these measurements in the order.
Tips
Make sure all measurements are accurate. Any errors, no matter how small, can easily cause the windows to not fit correctly.
Measure multiple times to ensure accuracy. This will also give you an opportunity to double check the measurements.
Mark down any measurements that are not standard as this can help when ordering the new windows.

Step 1: Remove the Old Window
If you're replacing an existing window, you'll need to remove it first. Carefully remove any screws or fastenings that are holding the window in place. If the window is sealed with adhesive, you may need to use a utility knife to cut through the sealant before removing the window.
Step 2: Measure the Width of the Window Opening
Using a tape measure, measure the width of the window opening from side to side. Take the measurement at the narrowest point, which is usually at the bottom of the opening. Write down the measurement in inches or centimetres.
Step 3: Measure the Height of the Window Opening
Measure the height of the window opening from top to bottom, again taking the measurement at the narrowest point. Write down the measurement in inches or centimeters.
Step 4: Measure the Depth of the Window Opening
Measure the depth of the window opening from the inside of the caravan to the outside. This measurement will be important when choosing a replacement window, as it will need to fit snugly into the opening.

Step 6: Make a Template of the Window Opening
Using masking tape, mark the edges of the window opening on the inside of the caravan. Then, using a straight edge, draw a template of the opening on a piece of paper. Be sure to include the measurements you've taken, as well as the location of any screw holes or other features.
Step 7: Check Your Measurements
Double-check your measurements to ensure that they're accurate. If your window is an irregular shape, you may need to take additional measurements to ensure that you get the right size and shape of replacement window.
